Report On Council
Council have paid for 3 x 16 tonne loads of stone for our use.
1 load has been delivered next to Stepple Hall for use on Route R. Access has been agreed with John Evans for us to go around his fields. Plan is to use John and Steve’s dumper plus Steve’s’ tractor and front loader to move stone down to the bridleway and spread this on the worst areas where it has been eroded around tree roots. Hopefully this work could be done in 1 full day (approx 8 dumper loads .The bridleway first needs to be cleared back to allow the dumper access along the bridleway. A work part will be held Sunday 27th at 10:30 (see separate post for work party).
1 load has been delivered to John’s yard and will be used to repair route Route C Prescott end. John is happy to store the stone until we have the opportunity/funds to move it.
1 load will be delivered and left at the top of route C Detton end this week. There is limited space so it will need to be moved as soon as it has been delivered. Arthur has agreed to use his JCB to move and spread this along the bridleway with Johns help. The plan is to do this on Friday 25th Sept starting at 9:00am. Any additional help will be appreciated.
All of the above work will require funding to pay for use of dumper, digger, tractor, fuel etc. Currently the group only has approx £30 in the account so a fund raiser will be required ASAP.
Fund Raiser
Option of quiz or equine table top sales were discussed. There are a number of Quizzes coming up which could reduce numbers so it was agreed we would try a table top sale. £10 per table in advance £15 on the night if space available. £2 entry to include refreshments (Tea, coffee, biscuit). Cakes will also be available for purchase. Donations of cakes for the cake sale will be required.
Proposed Date: Tuesday 17th November at F&O Village Hall. This date is available.
Yvonne will take table bookings. Yvonne will organize raffle and offered to donate a bottle of Scotch.
Chris will organise a general display showing local bridleways and work we have done (could use the Committee room and serve teas in there).
Event will be publicized as a social event to meet with other horse riders alongside the table top sale.
Clare will produce a poster and Chris will circulate this through the website for people to print and display.
Open to set up tables 6:30pm, sale open 7:30pm.
Letter to Local Parish Councils
Clare will draft out a letter based on the one sent to Stottesdon Parish which we can send to Neen Savage, F&O and Hopton to see if we can get them to provide a contribution towards costs for work on paths/bridleways in their parishes. Can include in the letter that the county council have funded the materials (approx £270 per load 16 tonnes stone) and we need funds to pay for digger, dumper hire at approx £150/day. We will provide labour.
Other Routes Discussed
Route D from Factory Lane to the Detton Prescott Route C has been cleared and is now usable. We assume this was done by council. Note Factory Lane road surface is slippy!
Route K (Nunnery Lane) – Needs drainage work – 2016 project
Route M Walters Lane – This has been further damaged by 4 wheel off roaders. – 2016 project
Cleeton Gate – Callow Gate (around back of hill) – route now difficult to follow – 2016 project
Route Q Catherton – to the new bridge. Dangerous latch bolt sticks out on gate from Gordon Poyners field. Steve and Yvonne will look at this to see if it can be made safer.
Route O to Doctors Cottage. This has been improved and gates much easier to use.
